THE Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile Ife, Osun State, has recorded another medical feat with a successful kidney transplant.
In a release signed by the Deputy Director, Corporate Services of the hospital, Mr. Olu Bello on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Professor Sanya Adejuyigbe, the successful kidney transplant operation was described as another indigenous operation carried out wholly by staff members of the institution.
The release also stated that both the donor and the recipient of the kidney were doing well in the hospital.
The surgery was said to have been carried out by a team of consultants made of up surgeons, nephrologists and specialists in other fields.
Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Director has appealed to voluntary organisations and well-meaning individuals to encourage the hospital by donating generously to the care of kidney-related patients and services.
The current successful surgery is the fourth that had been performed at the renal unit of the hospital.
