The authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, will on Tuesday (today) honor eight of its students that came second at an international competition. The students emerged the best from the African continent and second in the world at the Students in Free Enterprise tournament in New York City, United States of America earlier in the month.

With this performance, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Biodun Olanrewaju, said the students had once again exhibited the university’s leadership position among Nigerian and African Universities.

According to a release signed by Olarewaju on Monday, the students’ feat showed that they were worthy ambassadors of the country’s universities.

They students are Amed Ayinde Razaq (Economics); Balogun Akeem Bolarinwa (Economics); Abisuga Michael Opeoluwa (Architecture); Lagudoye Laide Ibitola (Sociology and Anthropology); and Domingo, Julian Ndidi, (Urban and Regional Planning).

Others are Iduozee Frank Iziegbe (Demography and Social Statistics); Oke Muritala Adesegun (Economics); and Salawu Muideen Oluwatosin (Electrical /Electronics Engineering).

The statement added that two lecturers, Dr. Saibu Olufemi Muibi and Mr. Adedokun Sikiru Adetona, from the Department of Economics were the faculty advisers who coordinated the students.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Michael Faborode, has commended the students who participated in the SIFE international competition and did the nation proud.

Olanrewaju stated that a reception to be organized in honor of the students would also hold today. He added that the students would present the trophy they won to the university at the ceremony.
